The Samaritan Room Ministry was established in 1980 as a food pantry to help support families in the Oak Hill community on a monthly basis. After its first year, the Samaritan Christmas Outreach and Back-to-School Outreach initiatives were created in response to the growing needs of the families served by the pantry. Since then, the Samaritan Room Ministry has helped hundreds of families by providing Christmas gifts and food, as well as backpacks, school supplies and a new school outfit with shoes. This ministry is rooted in the mission to love and walk alongside the hurting by offering compassion, care and support.

This ministry partners with those in the Oak Hill community to meet basic needs by suppling food, clothing, and school supplies. Emotional and spiritual needs are also addressed through prayer, a listening ear, hugs, and genuine compassion. In addition to ongoing support, the ministry hosts and annual Christmas outreach that serves approximately 100 families with gifts and essential food items. Each August, the Samaritan Room also provides around 100 backpacks filled with school supplies to children in need throughout the Oak Hill school district. Volunteers play a vital role in the ministry by sorting donations, stocking shelves, assisting families who visit the Samaritan building, and organizing the Samaritan Christmas and Back-to-School Outreach events.
