Since 2001, Converse Church of Christ has been partnering with the Oak Hill United School Corporation to provide mentors to hundreds of students though the Kids Hope ministry. Jesus commissioned the church to care for hurting children, and Kids Hope is a meaningful response to that calling. Research shows that a key factor in a child’s future success is the presence of a stable, committed and healthy relationships. Kids Hope fosters these relationships through a one-to-one mentoring model- one mentor dedicated to one student. Mentors work alongside parents, teachers, principals and counselors to ensure every child knows they are valued, supported and loved.

“Schools know the difference relationships make. Churches want to make an impact in their community. Together, these partnerships cultivate life-changing relationships that empower students to thrive. ” -Kids Hope USA
This ministry seeks to share the love of Jesus with K-6th grade students in the Oak Hill community who are referred by teachers and staff as needing some extra love and support. Volunteers in this ministry must be 18 years of age or older and have a passion for demonstrating God’s love by spending one hour each week with a student at their Oak Hill school. Volunteers are also encouraged to see additional opportunities to connect with and support their student beyond that weekly time.
